  • без заземления;
  • разборные модели;
  • с заземлением;
  • неразборные модификации;
  • евростандарт;

90000 An Electrician Explains How to Wire a Switched (Half-Hot) Outlet 90001 90002 What Is a Half-Hot Outlet? 90003 90004 Most of the outlets in your home are of the duplex variety-that is, you can plug two devices into them at one time. A half-hot (or switched) outlet is a duplex outlet that has one half permanently «on» or ready to provide electricity while the other half can be turned off and on via an ordinary wall switch. 90005 90004 While the entire duplex outlet could be turned on via a wall switch, only one of the two plug-ins is usually switched; this leaves the other half permanently powered for other uses.90005 90004 This kind of outlet is quite common in modern construction. If you plug a lamp into the switched side, you can turn the light off and on via the wall switch. Half-hot outlets are most frequently found in living rooms, but can be put into any location. 90005 90004 Learning how to wire a switched outlet is not difficult. It is similar to wiring a regular light fixture. Find out how below. 90005 90004 Note: If you are installing a new outlet or pulling additional wire to an existing one, please check this article about adding an outlet; it contains tips and suggestions for pulling wire to both new and existing outlets.90005 90002 There Are 4 Wires in a Romex 3-Wire Cable! What Do the Colors of the Wires Indicate? 90003 90016 90017 White: the neutral. See warning below! 90018 90017 Green or bare copper without insulation: the ground wire. 90018 90017 Red: hot. 90018 90017 Black: hot. 90018 90025 90004 These will all be cabled together in a sheath. Romex wire is usually used in houses. 90005 90002 The White Wire: A Word of Caution 90003 90004 Switch boxes in older homes usually used the white wire as a power wire, not a neutral. So when the white wires in a switch box are spliced together, any that go to a switch should be ignored and left right where they are. 90005 90004 Do not splice those white wires already on a switch to any other white wires, and especially not to the new white wire that is a part of your new 3-wire cable. 90005 90004 It was not until 2011 that the National Electric Code ruled that a white wire being used as a neutral was required in the switch box. Prior to that, it was acceptable to use the white as the switched «hot» wire, although a conscientious electrician would color it to something else (using magic marker, black tape, etc.). 90005 90004 So if you are replacing an older, existing switched outlet, and if it has 2-wire cable between the outlet and the switch, then the white wire is being used as either a permanent hot or as the switched power and IS NOT neutral. Care must be taken to keep it separate from other white wires. 90005 90002 How to Wire a Half-Hot Switched Outlet 90003 90004 Before you do anything, 90041 TURN OFF THE POWER! 90042 A non-contact voltage detector can be invaluable here for detecting power through the insulation of the wire.Make 90043 sure 90044 that the power is off. A nasty shock is the least desirable outcome of your project. 90005 90004 As noted above, there are two possibilities for the incoming power: either in the switch box or in the outlet box. These will be treated separately below. 90005 90002 How to Wire a Switched Half-Hot Outlet That Gets Its Power From the Outlet Box 90003 90004 This is the preferred method of wiring a half-hot switched outlet, because if the power is coming from the switch, it is most likely a lighting circuit that is intended to operate lights, not outlets.Yes, you will probably have a lamp plugged in, but the other half of the outlet could run anything. It is best if this outlet is on a circuit intended for outlets. So if there is an option, use the power already in the outlet box. 90005 90052 90017 In order for the outlet box to work, it must already contain one or more cables made up of black, white, and green / bare ground wires all cabled together. In order to add the switch, you will be adding a Romex 3-wire cable to the box. 90018 90017 Cut a short 6 «piece of cable and remove the outer sheath. This gives you four different colored wires to splice in with the matching wires in the box. These 6 «pieces (or» pigtails «) will attach to the outlet. Strip off the last 1/2 inch of colored plastic coating on each end of each wire. 90018 90017 Next, you will splice all of the grounds (green or bare wires) together with that additional green / bare 6 «piece. Splicing is when you twist all the bare metal wires together so that they’re in contact. You should pull them into a neat bundle with the stripped ends all together, twist them into one, put a plastic twist-on wire nut over them, and screw it down tightly as if it were a bolt head.Hold the wire nut in one hand and tug firmly on each individual wire to make sure it does not come loose. Pull fairly hard to test the connection; better that it comes apart now than later. 90018 90017 Do the same with all the black wires (and the additional 6 «piece of black wire you cut in step 2). 90018 90017 Splice all the white wires together, again with the 6 «additional white piece. 90018 90017 The loose end of the 6 «ground wire will terminate on the green ground screw of the outlet. The black 6 «wire will terminate on one of the brass-colored screws, the red one on the other brass screw, and the white one on the silver-colored screw. It is most common to put the red wire on the bottom screw, since that will make the top plug-in «hot» at all times and will be a little easier to plug things into it. 90018 90017 To terminate (affix or connect) the wires, bend a hook in the wire, loop it around the screw in a clockwise direction, and tighten the screw firmly. If the wire tends to come out from under the screw while tightening, you have looped it the wrong direction.Alternatively, many home grade outlets have small holes in the rear of the outlet where the wires can be simply pushed in instead of wrapping around the screw. 90018 90017 At the switch, put a wire nut on the white wire, capping it off, and tuck it into the back of the box. It will not be used. Splice all ground wires in the box together (if multiple switches or other wires are in the box), again with an additional 6 «green / bare piece to go to the switch. Terminate the ground wire on the green ground screw of the switch.90018 90017 Terminate the black wire from your new 3-wire cable on one of the screws on the side of the switch, and the red on the other. It does not matter which one goes where. 90018 90071 .90000 Some frequently asked questions about TP-Link smart plug and smart switch 90001 90002 For basic / advanced settings of Smart Plug / Switch, please refer to following FAQs: 90003 90002 How to connect my TP-LINK Smart Plug to my home network via Kasa? 90003 90002 How to create a Cloud Account for my TP-LINK Smart Plug in Kasa to allow Kasa to control it remotely? 90003 90002 Advanced settings introduction of TP-LINK Smart Plug in Kasa APP. 90003 90002 How to update firmware of Smart Devices in Kasa App? 90003 90002 90003 90002 90015 Q1: Can I plug in a power strip to the smart plug? 90016 90003 90002 A: Yes, you can plug a power strip into a TP-Link Smart Plug and turn it on / off via the Kasa app or voice command with Amazon Echo / Google Assistant. The total draw and wattage of devices plugged into the power strip should be within the rated amperage and wattage of the Smart Plug. 90003 90002 90015 Q2: Can the Smart Plug / Switch control multiple lights? 90016 90003 90002 A: Yes, they can as long as the total current draw and wattage does not exceed the rated amperage and wattage of the 90015 Smart Plug / Switch 90016. 90003 90002 For example, you may use it to control you Christmas tree lights outside. 90003 90002 90015 Q3: Does the 90016 90015 Smart Plug 90016 90015 block both plugs on the socket panel? 90016 90003 90002 A: Possibly it does.Due to the design of the Smart Plug, it is recommended to place it in the top outlet so that the bottom one is usable. The place where you place your NVR / DVR — the central surveillance hub -in your house determines the route of wiring. Placing your NVR / DVR smartly in your house can help you get rid of messy wiring disaster. 90005 90002 The place should be easy to access so that you can hardwire your security camera comfortably from anywhere in your house.Attics and your Internet router are ideal places for NVR / DVR. 90005 90002 90003 Note 90004: You can get helpful tips here to place your security cameras (systems). 90005 90002 90003 Step 2 90004. Turn off the power when running security camera wires, which can protect your personal safety and avoid damaging your devices. 90005 90002 90003 Step 3 90004. Drill a hole in the position where the outlet will be (for wireless security camera & analog security cameras), and use a straightened metal coat hanger to feel inside the wall for any unforeseen obstructions.90005 90002 Drilling is undoubtedly one of the best and easiest ways to run security camera wires through walls, soffit, vinyl siding, etc. 90005 90002 If you run a Cat 5/6 Ethernet cable of your security camera, you can just drill a hole to run the Ethernet cable from the camera to your home router or NVR. If the distance between your camera and router / NVR is too far away, you can add a PoE injector. 90005 90002 90120 90005 90002 90003 Step 4 90004. The gap / hole should be larger than the maximum amount of wires you expect to ever run.Allow a few feet of extra wire inside for both termination, and future reorganization if needed. Labeling the ends of the cables will help you figure out which security camera works with which cable. 90005 90002 90003 Step 5 90004. Go to where you want to install your security cameras, such as attic, soffit, basement or crawlspace, and drill a hole in the top or bottom wall plate in the same wall cavity. 90005 90002 90003 Step 6 90004. Attach the wires with the fish tape to fish your security camera wires.90005 90002 90003 Step 7 90004. Run security camera wires or cables to the destination (you may need a partner to feed the wires for you). Remember to use the security camera wire protection cover or conduit to protect the cables. 90005 90002 90139 90005 90002 Hope the above step-by-step guide has answered the questions like 90142 How to run home security camera wires through the attic / wall? How to Hide Security Camera Wires Outside 90005 90145 1. How to Run & Hide Security Camera Wires Outside: Long-Distance Project 90146 90002 When running security camera wires outside (especially the long-distance job), you can bury the cables to protect the wires from being tempered. 90005 90002 90003 Step 1 90004.Plan the security camera wire route. Find a rather short and easy route to bury your conduits so that the burial job could be easier. 90005 90002 90003 Step 2 90004. You need to use the wire guard, PVC or metal conduits to protect the home security camera wires from tampering by both humans and animals — squirrels (check this post to learn how to get rid of them), birds, etc. 90005 90002 90003 Editor’s Tip: 90004 If you do not use conduits outside or bury security camera wires, remember to leave drip loops to prevent water from running to the power outlets through the hole.90005 90002 90003 Step 3 90004. If you need to power your PoE security camera outside, you can just fish a CAT5 / 6 cable, since PoE cabling can provide both data connection and electric power for your PoE security cameras. In terms of wireless security cameras, you just need to run wires for the outlet providing power for wireless security cameras. (The outlet should be waterproof and weatherproof.) 90005 90002 90003 Step 4 90004. Mark the place where you want to cut the hole. 90005 90002 90003 Step 5 90004.Drill a hole to run security camera wires from your house. Once the hole is cut in the wall, insert a drill bit to drill a hole so that you can run wires through it. Remember to use a right angle drill with a hole saw bits for boring large holes. 90005 90002 Keep the holes centered on the studs. Drilling a hole in the wall is much easier than drilling in the floor. All you need to do is to drill slowly and not press too hard. Stop when you feel the drill penetrates the wall. 90005 90002 90228 90005 90002 90003 Step 6 90004.Bury electrical wires / network cables. Before you need to run wires for your security cameras, you need to bury the PVC conduit at least 18 inches, while 6 inches for metal conduit according to the National Electric Code (NEC). 90005 90002 90235 90005 90002 90003 Step 7 90004. Now holes are already done. Running wires comes next. Fishing the wires is quite easy when you attach them with a fish tape or a pull wire. Wrap the bare wire through the fish tape eye and twist the end of the wire around itself.Place the electrical tape over the end of the fish tape eye and wire. Now you are ready for pulling wires. 90005 90002 90003 Step 8 90004. Pull security camera wires. With one person standing to feed the wires, pull evenly on all of the wires. Keep the wires untangled. As for the person pulling the wires on the other end, pull the wires slowly, such as in 2 to 3 foot intervals. Pulling too fast would nick the wires and catch your partner’s fingers. 90005 90002 You can also read this post to get more details on how to install security cameras (written by Amanda, Reolink senior tech editor, who is really addicted to DIY projects).90005 90002 Some of OPs asked questions on forums, like 90142 «How to run cables for your outdoor PoE security cameras, or how to install power wires for outdoor wireless security cameras?» 90143. Splice the cables together (with wire nuts), via twisting the exposed copper ends. Make sure that you twist the positive from one wire to the other (same as the negative cable). 90005 90002 90003 Step 3 90004. Splice the 2 power cables together, using the security camera wire connectors, and then insert the exposed copper wire from the positive conductor into one end of the connector. Do the same thing for the other positive wire and the 2 negative wires.90005 90002 Do not forget to use a security camera gauge to check the amount of the electric current the wire can carry to avoid the possible circuitry burnout. 90005 90002 Note that splicing security camera wires improperly may result in security camera malfunctions. Check this post out to find feasible solutions when your security cameras will not work. 90005 90145 Q 3. What Are the Security Camera Wire Types 90146 90002 90003 A 3: 90004 When running wires for your security cameras, implementing the suitable cable type will save you immense amounts of headache later and calls to tech support to solve the issues that should not have happened.90005 90002 Security camera wire types usually include 3 main kinds: Cat 5/6 Ethernet cables, Siamese cables and plug-and-play cables. 90005 90002 90003 Cat 5/6 Ethernet cables 90004 — this type of security camera wires transmits the video / image data and power via a single cable. The Cat 5/6 cables can carry the video signal up to 1,500 feet. This type of cables is used for PoE IP cameras, which offers you an easier solution to run wires, compared with the traditional hardwired CCTV surveillance cameras.90005 90002 90003 Further Reading: 90004 Check this post to learn more about Cat 5/6 IP security cameras. 90005 90002 90003 Siamese cables 90004 — this kind of security camera wires usually includes 2 types: RG59 and 18/2 wires. RG59 cables are a specific coaxial wire used to connect the cameras to the DVR. 18/2 wires are 2 separate 18-gauge wires used to transmit power from the power supply to the cameras. 90005 90002 90003 Plug-and-play wires 90004 — this type of security camera cabling has the connectors for both video and power supply. The security camera wire data transmission length is available in 25, 50, 100 & 150 feet. 90005 90002 The downside of the PnP security camera wires is that they can not offer high-quality video and power transmission, compared with the above 2 types. And the cables are not able to transmit the signal data any further than 150ft. 90005 90145 Q 4. How to Install the Wire Guards for Security Cameras (Requested by a Reader in the Comment) 90146 90002 90003 A 4 90004: There are 2 main types of security camera wire guards.90005 90002 One of the types looks like a cage, which typically is used for protecting the security camera from being tempered. 90005 90002 The other one is typically with long-strip shape, and is used for protecting security camera wiring from rain, shine, etc. 90005 90002 Please check the below steps to install the wire guards for protecting your security camera wiring. 90005 90002 90003 Step 1 90004. Attach the wire guard with several screws. 90005 90002 Now you are done! 90005 90002 If you have any questions or ideas on «How to Install Security Camera Wires», please leave them in the comment below! 90003 We will feature your questions and insights in this article 90004! 90005 .90000 How to Change a 4-Prong Dryer Cord and Plug to a 3-Prong Cord 90001 90002 My New Home Needs a Dryer Plug Adapter 90003 90004 Congratulations! You’ve just moved into your new home, the new drapes are up, and the washer and dryer are ready to be put into place. But wait! The dryer cord will not plug in-the dryer cord has four prongs, but the wall receptacle only has three holes! What’s up with this? 90005 90004 What’s up is that in 1999 the National Electric Code instituted a change, requiring all new dryers and home dryer receptacles to have 4 prongs instead of the older 3-prong style. That fourth prong is a ground wire and is there for better electrical safety. The older, outlets are «grandfathered» in the rule change and are quite legal to use if already in place, but you will need a new cord to fit it. 90005 90004 Now, it would be convenient if there was a dryer plug adapter that you could plug into that three-pronged receptacle so that you could plug your dryer into 90009 that 90010 -but there is not. You will have to change the dryer cord to make it fit. 90005 90004 The good news is that dryer cords are readily available and fairly inexpensive, and it is not very hard to switch them.Amazon carries dryer cords in a wide variety of lengths, and home improvement stores will usually have one or two sizes as well. A screwdriver and a pair of pliers will do the job, although some nut drivers would be nice. 90005 90004 Now if the situation with 90009 your 90010 dryer cord and outlet is backwards from this-that is, you have a three-pronged cord and a four-pronged outlet-you are looking at the wrong article. Look at this article instead: Changing A 3-Prong Dryer Cord And Plug to a 4-Prong Cord.90005 90002 Removing the Old Four-Prong Plug 90003 90004 90021 Begin by unplugging the dryer 90022. There is high voltage inside (240 volts) that can give you a 90009 very 90010 nasty shock, even kill you. Make 90009 sure 90010 there is no chance of this, by unplugging the dryer before proceeding any further. 90005 90004 There will be some kind of connector holding the dryer cable to the wall of the dryer so that it does not pull out. The most common type is a clamp with two screws on the outside that can be tightened to squeeze the wire into place.Loosen these screws so that the wire can slide out of the dryer. 90005 90004 Remove the cover plate from the wire terminal block, exposing the wires inside. Note where each color of wire terminates. A picture, either hand drawn or taken with your smart phone, can be very useful. Normally, you will see a row of three terminal screws, with the red and black wires connected to the two outside screws, the white wire connected to the center screw, and the green wire connected to the frame of the dryer.90005 90004 Remove each wire from the screw or stud holding it, making sure to save all nuts or screws. A nut driver or socket is preferred but a pair of pliers is usually sufficient to loosen and remove the wires. 90005 90004 Work the old wire out of the connector that holds it to the wall of the dryer, and set it aside for possible future use. You never know when you might move again, and Murphy’s Law says that if you do, it will be back into a home with a four-prong dryer plug! 90005 90002 Installing the Three-Prong Dryer Cord and Plug 90003 90004 Once the four-wire cord is removed, it is time to install the new three-wire cord and plug.Work the wire through the connector, but do not tighten it yet. The red and black wires go to the outer two terminals (in the photo the dryer wires are black and blue) and the white wire goes to the terminal in the center of the terminal block. While the red and black wires are interchangeable, the white wire is not; make sure it goes to the center terminal, where the old white wire was. 90005 90004 Most three-wire cords do not have colored wires, so instead of matching colors identify the wires using the relative position of the wires in the cord. The center wire of the three will always go to the center (white) terminal; the outer two wires go to the outer terminals. The outer two wires can be interchanged, but never put the center wire of a flat, three-wire cord on anything but the center terminal. 90005 90004 Your three-prong cord will not have a green ground wire. In place of that wire a ground strap or short piece of # 10 wire (preferably green) 90021 must 90022 be installed. One end should go to where the green wire on the old cord went, and the other end to the terminal where the white wire went.90021 Do not ignore this step! 90022 You must have a «jumper» of some kind, a wire or strap, installed between the dryer frame and the white wire. This jumper is the only thing that grounds the dryer. Without it, if there is an electrical problem later, the frame may become energized and present a huge shock hazard. 90005 90004 The photo shows a metal strap installed; it goes from the white wire down the side of the terminal block, and is screwed to the dryer frame. If this strap is not available (and it usually is not) purchase a one-foot piece of # 10 green wire, strip an inch of insulation from each end, and install that wire between the connector the white wire used to go to and the connector on the frame where the green wire used to go.90005 90004 With the wires all terminated, tighten the connector on the outside of the dryer that holds the cable securely. 90005 90004 It is wise to turn the power off at this point, just in case something has been wired wrong. With the power off, plug the dryer into the wall outlet and turn the breaker back on. Test the dryer for proper operation and you’re done. Congratulations on doing your own home repair job! It was not so bad, was it, even though that dryer cord adapter you really wanted is not available? 90005 90004 A final thought: now that you have your dryer operating properly, the vent hose may need some attention.Older, plastic, vent hoses are not recommended as a fire hazard, and even newer metallic ones deteriorate over time. Many dryers are placed very close to the wall where the exhaust vent is located, requiring that the hose be badly kinked in order to hook up to it, and rigid metal elbows are available to help alleviate this problem. Neither the dryer vent or vent elbows are expensive; consider replacing them or at a minimum clean out the vent hose and the vent opening outside your home. While you’re at it, check that the vent outside operates correctly, closing when the dryer is not running so that insects and small animals can not get in.Whether you purchase your new cord at a local home improvement store or through the Amazon link above, both vent hoses and elbows are available and can be purchased at the same time as the new cord. 90005 .
